New to our Surgery Team

Dr. Andrea Smith was inspired to become a veterinary surgeon at an early age while spending time in her grandfather’s veterinary practice and she was most often found observing surgical procedures. Her interest in surgery continued throughout her veterinary education as she elected to pursue a surgical residency. Although she is fully capable and enjoys all types of surgery, she has a special interest in thoracic and reconstructive surgery.

Dr. Smith received her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine (DVM) from the University of Georgia in 2009, and then completed a rotating internship at Purdue University. She then completed a surgical internship at the Dallas Veterinary Surgical Center in Dallas, Texas. In 2014 she completed a surgical residency at the College of Veterinary Medicine, University of California, at Davis. In 2015 she became a Board Certified Diplomate in the American College of Veterinary Surgeons – Small Animal.

Dr. Smith is excited to join the SAVES team and for the opportunity to work in the community where she grew up and still considers home. She lived in Peachtree City, Georgia for the majority of her life prior to beginning her journey into veterinary medicine.
