Employment

Upstate Vet is a state of the art, fast-paced specialty hospital offering a number of specialties including surgery, ophthalmology, dentistry, oncology, internal medicine, and neurology with board-certified doctors in each department. Upstate Vet is centrally located close to alluring and thriving downtown Greenville, SC. We are always looking for energetic, hardworking, organized, self-motivated candidates to add to our team-based hospital environment. License or certification is an advantage, but not required. Minimum of two years of veterinary patient handling experience is necessary if not credentialed. On-site training of advanced diagnostic equipment, instrumentation, and techniques are provided. Benefits of working at Upstate Vet are many and include health and dental insurance, paid time off, scrub allowance, 401K, CE allowance, personal pet discounts, and MORE! Salary is competitive and directly related to experience and performance.

Externships

Upstate Vet offers an externship program for veterinary and veterinary technician students enrolled in a certified institution to help their clinical training and expand their level of experience. We practice high-quality medicine using state-of-the-art technology at one of the largest veterinary hospitals in South Carolina. Externships are available in the following departments: Internal Medicine, Surgery, Oncology, Ophthalmology, Dentistry, and Neurology. We try to limit one extern at a time per department to allow maximum benefit to the student. Since specialty medicine is vastly different from general practice, we prefer students to have some experience in veterinary medicine prior to externship. There is flexibility with the amount of time per department (if more than one department will be rotated through), but your preferred time cannot be guaranteed due to scheduling. There are also some weeks out of the year some departments won’t be available due to conferences (ACVIM, VCS) and prior commitments. All costs and arrangements for travel, accommodations, and food are the student’s responsibility. Proof of liability insurance and health insurance is required prior to your start date. We want you to get the most out of your experience with us. This will require you to be an involved and enthusiastic team player! Let us know if you have any special interests or objectives you wish to accomplish while here.
