Internal Medicine Team

Dr. Laura Cousins

DVM, MS, Diplomate ACVIM

Dr. Cousins received her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Texas A&M University in 2001. She completed a one-year rotating internship in small animal medicine and surgery at Washington State University Veterinary Teaching Hospital. Dr. Cousins then attended the University of Georgia where she completed a three-year residency in internal medicine and obtained a Masters of Science in infectious disease in 2005. Dr. Cousins moved to the Upstate and has been working at Upstate Veterinary Specialists since she completed her residency. Her clinical interests include diagnosis and management of cardiac disease, ultrasound, immune-mediated disease, and chronic kidney disease. When not at work Dr. Cousins enjoys spending time with her family, reading, and trying new food and cooking techniques.

Dr. Vanessa Von Hendy-Willson

DVM, MS, Diplomate ACVIM

Dr. Von Hendy-Willson obtained her DVM from Purdue University.  She spent 2 years in private practice in Lafayette, IN.  She then pursued a rotating small animal internship at The Ohio State University.  This was followed by a residency in Internal Medicine and MS degree at Purdue University from 2008-2011.  She became a Diplomate of the ACVIM in June 2011 and joined UVS in August 2011.  While Dr. Von Hendy-Willson enjoys all aspects of Internal Medicine, she has a special interest in the urinary tract, particularly management and treatment of lower urinary tract diseases and chronic kidney disease.  Outside of work, Dr. “V” enjoys traveling, water sports and spending time with her family (two-legged and four-legged).

Dr. Jocelyn Hogan

DVM, Diplomate ACVIM

Dr. Jocelyn Hogan received her doctorate in veterinary medicine from Kansas State University in 2009.  From there she moved to Baton Rouge, Louisiana (LSU) to complete an internship and residency leading to specialization in small animal internal medicine.  Dr. Hogan joined UVS team in 2013.  She likes all aspects of internal medicine but is particularly interested in immune related and infectious disease.  When not at work, she enjoys spending time with her husband, 4 dogs (Wilbur, Walter, Big Mac, Gladys), cat (Copper), cheering on the Wake Forest Demon Deacons and enjoying all of the wonderful outdoor activities Greenville has to offer.

Dr. Vince Ziglioli

DVM, MS, Diplomate ACVIM

Dr. Ziglioli attended Delaware Valley College in Pennsylvania, where he majored in Small Animal Science. He received his doctorate of Veterinary Medicine at North Caroline State University. After graduation, Dr. Ziglioli moved to Madison, Wisconsin where he completed a one-year rotating internship in small animal medicine and surgery. He completed a three-year residency in small animal internal medicine and a masters in biomedical veterinary science at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg. His clinical interests include immune mediated hematologic diseases, gastrointestinal diseases, and endocrine diseases. Outside of work, Dr. Ziglioli spends his free time running, hiking, biking, and going to Crossfit.

Dr. Maria Jugan

DVM, MS, ACVIM

Dr. Jugan received her doctorate of veterinary medicine from the University of Tennessee in 2013. She then completed a small animal rotating internship at Texas A&M University in 2014 and a three-year residency in Small Animal Internal Medicine at the Ohio State University in 2017. Currently, she is a member of the Comparative Gastroenterology Society, and her clinical interests include gastrointestinal disease, feline medicine, and critical care medicine. Outside of work, Dr. Jugan enjoys swimming, distance running, and spending time with her cat, Sassy.

Dr. Suzanne LeGrange

DVM, MS, Diplomate ACVIM

Dr. LeGrange obtained her DVM degree at Louisiana State University in 1991. She also has a BS degree in zoology from LSU and is a passionate LSU Tiger fan, especially for baseball and football. After veterinary school, she completed a 1 year rotating small animal and surgery internship at NC State, and that is when she fell in love with the state of North Carolina. After a 3 year internal medicine residency at Texas A&M, she moved back to the Charlotte, NC area in 1996 where she practiced internal medicine for 20 years before joining Upstate Veterinary Specialists in 2017. She and her husband Mark have been together since 1983. They have no children but are cat lovers and currently have 2 cats in the household. Her areas of interest include gastroenterology, liver diseases, endocrinology, infectious diseases, and cardiology, but she enjoys all aspects of internal medicine. Outside of work, she enjoys yoga, pilates, and tai chi as well as walking trails along the Blue Ridge Parkway. She is an avid sports fan and enjoys watching the Carolina Panthers, Atlanta Braves, and minor league baseball teams the Charlotte Knights and the Asheville Tourists. She and her husband are excited to be in Asheville, as it has been one of their favorite places to visit since they spent part of their honeymoon there in 1991.

Dr. Rob Presley

DVM, MS, Diplomate ACVIM

Dr. Rob Presley attended Mississippi State University for his undergraduate degree in Animal Science.  He also received his veterinary degree from Mississippi State in 2004.  After graduation, Dr. Presley performed a small animal internship and internal medicine residency at Auburn University.  After becoming boarded in Internal Medicine in 2008, he joined the team at Upstate Veterinary Specialists.  Dr. Presley’s clinical interests include minimally-invasive procedures and pre-hospital medicine.  Every Wednesday, Dr. Presley donates his time providing K9 officer Handlers first aid courses that include basic physiology, CPR, tactical emergent casualty care (TECC), and heat injury prevention. He also helped develop and raise funds for life saving first aid kits that can be used on both handler and dog. Outside of work, Dr. Presley enjoys golfing, woodworking, and spending time with his wife Ashli.
