Surgery

Whether it’s an emergency surgery or a planned procedure, our veterinary surgeons are prepared for all of your pet’s advanced surgical needs.

Overview

Unfortunately, dogs and cats can require surgery for many reasons. Whether it’s to repair a fractured bone, injured joint, or torn ligament, or to diagnose and/or treat a condition of the organs, our board-certified veterinary surgeons are prepared for all of your pet’s advanced surgical needs. Most of the techniques and technologies available for the management of injuries in people are also available to help our pets continue to lead happy and healthy lives.

Our state-of-the-art surgical suites contain equipment mirroring the kind seen in many advanced human facilities, including comprehensive patient monitoring and anesthetic equipment. In addition, Upstate Vet provides a complete array of minimally invasive laparoscopic and thoracoscopic procedures. Pain management is incorporated into the pre- and post-operative management of all cases to ensure your pet’s comfort.

Your pet’s care will be managed by a compassionate surgery team from the moment of check-in to the time of discharge. When your dog or cat has fully recovered from surgery, our staff will provide detailed discharge instructions for at-home post-surgical care. We are committed to providing you and your pet with personal and compassionate specialty care, and we pride ourselves in being your vet’s partner in the overall health of your pet.
